BALSAMIC: THE MAGIC ESSENCE OF THE MOON
Here comes another ECLIPSE NEW MOON on October 2nd to twist our souls upside down and open us to the unexpected. That’s the whole point.
But let’s take in this time right before the Moon is New: This DARK PHASE OF THE MOON, when the Moon is at its slimmest, darkest, the moment before the Sun and Moon meet and do what they do in the dark. Like a leaving lover, the Moon then separates from the Sun and becomes a fresh New Moon, filled with hopes and this contagious start-up energy. That is why we usually manifest during New Moons / but
In this very last, darkest phase, the Moon completes a cycle – and dies. We call it the BALSAMIC MOON PHASE. Some people (including me) are born under a Balsamic Moon and kind of lead a life of trying to close chapters. Once each month, we all experience this CLOSING TIME ENERGY – we witness and feel that Death and Rebirth are natural parts of every cycle.
We are, for it’s linked to the inability to see. We imagine monsters in the dark, shadows, and evil – which all can be distilled down to our deep FEAR OF DEATH. Such a tabu word, right? And yet, we all know it’s part of life.
The Moon teaches us very literally – for we can see it every night in the sky – about the cycles of life. NEW MOONS symbolize the beginning, FULL MOONS the flourishing bloom, and a BALSAMIC MOON speaks of decay and endings. And then, as we look up to that Moon gaining light again, we see something being born: a NEW MOON.
REGENERATIVE RITUALS
The ancients (let’s call them that for now) believed that during the Dark Moon, “someone” took the Moon off the sky for a while and used its magic to do some work. The question is: Who – and what magic? And is that true? The answer is Yes! YOU can take the Moon from the sky, use the energy, and sit still in the dark. Meaning: Check in with your heart and with themes of endings. So much wisdom in this Moon. It is freeing and regenerative to close chapters, y’know! You can practice it each month, but now, with the Eclipse Balsamic Moon in our faces — especially so.
ECLIPSE THEME:
Quick Recap: Eclipses happen when the Nodes of the Moon (KARMA POINTS) are near a Full or New Moon – and this upcoming Solar Eclipse New Moon features the Nodes in Libra and Aries, highlighting the axis of relating => ME and YOU and WE, and how the f*** is this all working?
The Eclipses on the Aries/Libra axis began in 2023 (April) and will end in 2025 (March) – they build upon each other – and with this eclipse, we can start finalizing the whole dance between Aries and Libra = Mars and Venus. Funny enough, Mars (ruler of Aries) is provoking this Eclipse Moon while Venus, the ruler of Libra and of the Eclipse, is bathing in a beautiful GRAND TRINE (super supportive energy) with Mars in Cancer and Saturn in Pisces.
What does that mean? More emotions, some discipline, and a bit of a push from our soft, watery warrior, Mrs. Mars in Cancer. Questions for you: Where am I on the scale between the harmony-driven chameleon trying to make a certain (romantic) relationship work and this self-confident Ram-Hammer clearly stating his points in any couple box? Who am I, with or without a lover? How does it feel when the other person acts as a mirror, helping me to understand myself? And what if the mirror shatters?! No right or wrong answers here, only questions. And clarity.
Personally, having my natal Nodes in Libra and Aries, this is a big-time moment for drawing a line under some of my relational patterns. Most of them are a little on the Libra South Node side of the Chameleon ;-) ! Yet, I wear my Aries necklace, brave, reminding me of the story of the GOLDEN RAM – every day!
The best thing to do with eclipses is to pay attention to signals and signs. Observe. Be aware. Don’t think. Open up to feelings and things that aren’t on the list and that you didn’t expect. In astrology, eclipses are considered times of great energetic and emotional intensity, often associated with profound changes. Or not. The important thing is to control and expect nothing – especially not instant change. The effects of an eclipse reveal themselves later, in “real life” – within the next six months.
Thank you again for diving with me into this cosmic rabbit hole — just as dark and mysterious as the New Moon. And if you found some light within – share it (and this newsletter) because the more we explore these hidden places and parts of ourselves, the brighter the light we shine when we reemerge.
Ahoi & Cheers to Libra, Aries, the Moon & to you,
Berit & a moonstruck Uranian Rabbit
